Trail Mix - 3.31.18

3.31.1 – Job said, “…though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” There are days when the unexplainable happens, when we are surrounded by darkness, when we do not have a sense of God’s presence with us and it may be that we will even leave this world in the dark but stay true to Him dear friend and He will raise you up in the morning. We glorify Him most when we trust Him come what may, even when we cannot see Him! Thomas was blessed when He saw Jesus but our Lord blesses those who “believe, having not seen.” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you trust Him in your trials so that you can triumph in your troubles.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. KJV
“Ethel was distraught and phoned her doctor's office. "Is it true," she wanted to know, "that the medication you prescribed has to be taken for the rest of my life?" Trail Mix - 3.30.18

3.30.18 – “Fretting” is forbidden in the Scriptures but just exactly what does this mean? To fret is to worry about the little things in life; it’s to worry about “the little foxes that spoil the grapes.” Most of us can stand big troubles far better than the small annoyances of life. It’s the small distractions that bring wear and tear and it may be nobler to overcome these little aggravations gracefully than the large problems. Vance Havner
My prayer for you today is for you conquer the cares that would curb your contentment!

Matthew 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? KJV
“I’ve heard about a little six-year old boy who restlessly struggled to listen to a rather lengthy sermon. After the service, the little boy asked the question that sooner or later most "church kids" ask. "Dad" he said, "what does the preacher do the rest of the week?" The dad replied, "Son, he’s a very busy man. He takes care of church business, visits the sick, studies the Bible. . . and he has to take time to rest up. You see, preaching in public is not an easy job." The little boy thought about that and said, "Well, listening ain’t so easy either!" ChristiansUnite.Com

Trail Mix - 3.29.18

3.29.18 – “All of us have had those days when it seems that the world comes crashing in on us. Job, Jacob, David and others went through the fire of loss; suffering and pain but those awful days can be the doorway into awesome days with our God. Most folks who come to God come during a time of crisis! When trials come God has promised a way of escape. He promises to delivery us but He does not promise a life free from adversity. For every mountaintop there is a corresponding valley. When we are in the center of His will He leads us to the top of the mountain and we learn that that the next mountain is higher and closer to Him!” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to thank God for the “valleys” in your life. It is at these times that we get closest to God.

2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. KJV
“As a senior citizen was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, "Herman, I just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on Highway 401. Please be careful!" "Doggone," said Herman, "It's not just one car. It's hundreds of them!" ChristiansUnite.Com

Trail Mix - 3.28.18

3.28.18 – “We are stewards of our time. The Scripture says that it is required of a steward that we be, “found faithful.” What do you do with your time my friend? Do you “work” your time or do you “waste” your time? Even times of seeming inactivity can be profitable if we maintain a sense of the importance of every minute that we are given. Use your time wisely and focus on bringing glory to God and good to mankind! Time is your most valuable possession. Use it wisely. We are told in Scripture to “Redeem the time,” or literally buy it back. Don’t waste time or you may want time.” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to “work, for the night cometh when no man can work.”

Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. KJV
“After losing another tooth, young-old Timmy became more curious about the mysterious tooth fairy. Finally putting two and two together, he came right out and asked his mother, “Mom, are you the tooth fairy?” Assuming he was old enough to hear the truth, she replied, “Yes Timmy, I am.” Timmy seemed to take this news quite well. But as he headed for the door, he slowly turned back toward his mother with a curious look on his face and said, “Wait a minute mom. How do you get into the other kids’ houses?” ChristiansUnite.Com

Trail Mix -3.27.18

3.27.18 – “In the strength of God’s grace the Apostle Paul outtraveled, outpreached, outwrote, and outworked any man of his day. No matter where he went or what he experienced there was always grace enough to meet all of his needs, even when he was buffeted by Satan’s messenger there was grace and to spare. Life’s greatest blessing is to live in the sufficiency of God’s wonderful grace! Oh, what amazing grace we have in Jesus.” Vance Havner
My prayer for you today is for you trust in the heart of God; He never, ever, fails!

Romans 12:3  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. KJV
“Two Pastors wives were visiting and sewing their husband’s pants. One wife said: My husband is just beside himself, he does not know what to do anymore and he is so tired and depressed he said he is ready to just give up and resign. The other wife said: I am sorry to hear that because my husband has never been happier. Our membership is growing and we are out of our financial burden, we have such a large and loving congregation. Life could not be any better than it is right now. One woman was mending the seat of her husband’s pants; the other was mending the knees.” ChristiansUnite.Com

Trail Mix - 3.26.18

3.26.18 – “God does not call you and I to sinless perfection but He does call us to blamelessness. Remember that our righteousness is as "filthy rags" compared to His holiness so what can we do? Blamelessness is doing the very best that we can to live a godly life by His grace. Our lives often bear a poor resemblance to the righteousness of Christ but if we strive for a blameless life then one day we will hear Him say, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." By God’s grace we can live “soberly, righteously and godly in this present world.” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is that when you to come to the end of the here and now you will hear the Savior say, “Welcome home my child!”

Romans 5:17  For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) KJV
“Bill and Steve are discussing the possibility of love. "I thought I was in love three times," Bill says. "Thought?" Steve asks. "What do you mean?" "Three years ago, I cared very deeply for a woman who wanted nothing to do with me," Bill says. "Wasn't that love?" Steve asks. "No, that was obsession," Bill explains. "Then two years ago, I cared very deeply for an attractive woman who didn't understand me." "Wasn't that love?" asks Steve. "No, that was infatuation," Bill replies. "And just last year, I met a woman while I was on a cruise. She was gorgeous, intelligent, a great conversationalist and had a super sense of humor. Everywhere I followed her on that ship, I would get a very strange sensation in the pit of my stomach." "Well, wasn't that love," asks Steve. "No. That was sea sickness!" Trail Mix - 3.25.18

3.25.18Vance Havner said, “The righteous man is not like a tombstone but like a tree.” In fact he is like a “tree planted by the waters,” not just put there but planted there! A tree has roots and we must be “rooted” in the right thing for the right reason and our “branches” must bear the right kind of fruit. Tombstones are a dead lifeless thing while a tree is a living life giving organism. Don’t be a tombstone, be a tree!”
My prayer for you today is that you might be a fruit bearer and that as you grow in the Lord you would bear more fruit and then much fruit.

Psalms 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. KJV
“One day two men were fishing, when a Game Warden slipped up on them and asked to see their fishing licenses. One of the men took off running. So the warden started chasing him. He ran after the man up and down the side of the river, thru the swamp, up the side of a mountain, the man swam across the river with the warden right behind him. Then he swam back across the river with the warden still right behind him. Finally after about three miles of chasing the game warden caught up with the man, bleeding and out of breath the warden asked to see his fishing license. The man reached in his pocket and pulled out his license and handed it to the warden. The warden asked why did you run? The man just looked at the warden and smiled and said: 'my friend doesn't have a license!”  ChristiansUnite.Com

Trail Mix - 3.24.18

3.24.18 – “There is no way to consider the “whole counsel of God” without a literal place called hell. Many in our day would have us deny this belief in favor of a more palatable “friendly” gospel designed not to make people uncomfortable but Jesus taught that there is such a place and that it should be shunned because it meant separation from God for all eternity. Don’t “delete” this doctrine from your belief system. It’s real whether we like it or not! There is a heaven to be gained and a hell to be shunned!” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to realize the “awfulness” of hell and the “awesomeness” of heaven!

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. KJV

Trail Mix - 3.23.18

3.23.18 – “Every Christian is a missionary to some degree or another for all the world is a mission field. Your mission field may be inside the four walls of your home with your own children or it may be across the sea to a people who have never heard the name of Jesus. Where ever you are God expects you to make Him known! The lowliest Christian and the smallest church can have a world wide impact for the Master. Serve where God has planted you whether it is a small or large church. First and foremost make sure that you are in the center of God’s will.” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is that you would see yourself as an ambassador for Christ wherever God has placed you, whether it be in a small or a large place!

Psalms 105:1 O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. KJV
“A census taker walked up to a woman who was sitting on a porch. After introducing himself, he said, "How many children do you have?" The woman answered, "Four." The census taker asked, "May I have their names, please?" The woman replied, "Eenie, Meenie, Minie, and George." Confused, the census taker said, "May I ask why you named your fourth child 'George'?" Trail Mix - 3.22.18

3.22.18 – “Read Matthew 17:16 and you will find the problem with the modern church. It is summed up in the phrase, “…and they could not.” So much that goes for church work today is done in the flesh and God refuses to bless this kind of activity. We live in a devil-possessed world and must recognize that our warfare is not against flesh and blood! Christians and churches may fail, but Christ never does. With God, all things are possible.” Vance Havner
My prayer for you today is for you to recognize the nature of our warfare and adorn yourself with the “whole armor of God” that you can stand and withstand!

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. KJV
“The manager of a large office asked a new employee to come into his office. "What is your name?" was the first thing the manager asked. "John," the new guy replied. The manager scowled. "Look, I don't know what kind of a namby-pamby place you worked at before, but I don't call anyone by their first name! It breeds familiarity and that leads to a breakdown in authority," he said. "I refer to my employees by their last name only - Smith, Jones, Baker - that's all. Now that we got that straight, what is your last name?" The new guy sighed and said, "Darling. Trail Mix - 3.21.18

3.21.18 – “Just as I am, without one plea,” is the place to where our effort ends and God begins! We will never have the “all things” of God until we learn that we can bring nothing to Christ but our need. “Let our debts be what they may, however great or small; As soon as we have naught to pay, our Lord forgives us all. “Tis perfect poverty alone that sets the soul at large; while we can call one mite our own, we have no full discharge.” Vance Havner
My prayer for you today is for you to come to Christ with empty hands and a full heart.

Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. KJV
A minister was opening his mail one morning. Drawing a single sheet of paper from an envelope, he found written on it only one word: "FOOL." 3.20.18 – “Do you remember the recruitment poster used extensively years ago that said, “Uncle Sam Needs You!” The same thing is true of God. Who will go for us, is the Lord’s call and Isaiah’s answer to the Lord was, “Here am I, send me.” God will use whatever you are willing to place in his hand. A loaf of bread, a few fishes or a borrowed colt, all can be used by the Lord when we put them in His hands. When God calls will you say “yes Lord, here am I, send me!” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for your “want to” to be willing to work for the “night cometh when no man can work.”

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. KJV
“A man placed some flowers on the grave of his dearly departed mother and started back toward his car when his attention was diverted to another man kneeling at a grave. The man seemed to be praying with profound intensity and kept repeating, "Why did you have to die? Why did you have to die?" The first man approached him and said, "Sir, I don't wish to interfere with your private grief, but this demonstration of pain is more than I've ever seen before. For whom do you mourn so deeply? Trail Mix - 3.19.18

3.19.18 – “Satan can appear in many forms; serpent, lion, and even a counterfeit angel. He is the most dangerous in the latter of the three and does much damage to the church and Christians in his angelic form. Remember dear friend, that whatever form he takes he is a liar and cannot be trusted. We are told to “try the spirits” by the Word of God and when Satan appears, “resist” him and he will flee. Do not be deceived! Our world today has many “wolves in sheep’s clothing.” Spiritual discernment is more important now than ever. The capacity for discernment is developed by “studying to show ourselves approved unto God.” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to develop your discernment so you can see thru the deceptions of the Devil!

“Once there was a millionaire, who collected live alligators. He kept them in the pool in back of his mansion. The millionaire also had a beautiful daughter who was single. One day he decides to throw a huge party, and during the party he announces, "My dear guests . . . I have a proposition to every man here. I will give one million dollars or my daughter to the man who can swim across this pool full of alligators and emerge alive!" As soon as he finished his last word, there was the sound of a large splash!! There was one guy in the pool swimming with all he could and screaming out of fear. The crowd cheered him on as he kept stroking as though he was running for his life. Finally, he made it to the other side with only a torn shirt and some minor injuries. The millionaire was impressed. He said, "My boy that was incredible! Fantastic! I didn't think it could be done! Well I must keep my end of the bargain. 3.18.18 – “Have you ever been in the situation where you wanted to do something for God but felt that you were short on the resources to accomplish the task? The Lord told the disciples to feed 5,000 but they had only a few loaves and fishes. The answer to the problem for them and us is in these words from Jesus, “Bring them hither to me.” When our sufficiency is in God all things are possible. “Little is much, when God is in it!” S. E. Trail Mix - 3.17.18

3.17.18 – “Expect the unexpected from God. Peter and John went up to the Temple to pray but an unscheduled event became the main event. It wasn’t on their schedule but it was on God’s! When we are busy doing our duty as good soldiers of Jesus Christ anything can happen. The healing of the lame man teaches that God has His own time table. Expect the unexpected from the God of the improbable and impossible!” Vance Havner
My prayer for you today is for you to be about “your Father’s business,” and for you to be open to the opportunities that may come.

Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. KJV

They both walk around the place, and McKenzie asks: "So how are your men?" "Very well trained, General. McKenzie." "I hope so. You see, my men over at the Navy are so well trained, you could see they're the bravest men all over the country." "Well, my men are very brave, too." "I'd like to see that." So Marshall calls private Cooper and says: "Private Johnson! I want you to stop that tank coming here with your body!" "Are you crazy? It'd kill me, you idiot! I'm out of here!" Trail Mix - 3.16.18

3.16.18 – “The prophet spoke of “broken cisterns” that would hold no water. As a child we remember those times when we stayed in a home where the water supply came from a cistern which caught rain water. The cistern required maintenance and repair from time to time to make sure that it did not leak. “Thirsty souls” need refreshment. Is your “cistern” in good repair so that when God sends the rain you’ll have water to share?” Vance Havner
My prayer today is for you to share the living water with a thirsty soul.

“Farmer Joe decided his injuries from the accident were serious enough to take the trucking company (responsible for the accident) to court. In court, the trucking company's fancy lawyer was questioning farmer Joe. "Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine?," questioned the lawyer. Farmer Joe responded, "Well I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favorite mule Bessie into the......." "I didn't ask for any details," the lawyer interrupted, "just answer the question. Did you not say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine!'" Farmer Joe said, "Well I had just got Bessie into the trailer and I was driving down the road..." The lawyer interrupted again and said, "Judge, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the Highway Patrolman on the scene that he was just fine. Now several weeks after the accident he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question." By this time the Judge was fairly interested in Farmer Joe's answer and said to the lawyer, "I'd like to hear what he has to say about his favorite mule Bessie." Joe thanked the Judge and proceeded, "Well as I was saying, I had just loaded Bessie, my favorite mule, into the trailer and was driving her down the highway when this huge semi-truck and trailer ran the stop sign and smacked my truck right in the side. I was thrown into one ditch and Bessie was thrown into the other. I was hurting real bad and didn't want to move. However, I could hear ole Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was in terrible shape just by her groans. Shortly after the accident a Highway Patrolman came on the scene. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning so he went over to her. After he looked at her he took out his gun and shot her between the eyes. Then the Patrolman came across the road with his gun in his hand and looked at me. 3.15.18 – “God does not normally meet with the crowd, He meets with a man! That was true of Moses, Jacob, Paul and John. The pages of church history have many examples of this truth. Even Jesus started his day alone with the Father. Vance Havner states that, “Eagles do not fly in droves.” They meet with God alone and then “…rise up on the wings of eagles.” Start your day with a quiet time with God and you’ll “fly” too! S. E. Soon after he opened his shop the first man came in and said, "I want a shave!" The barber said, "Sure, just sit in the seat and I'll be with you in a moment." The barber went in the back and prayed a quick desperate prayer saying, "God, the first customer came in and I'm going to witness to him. The lumberjack couldn’t believe his eyes and said, “Where did you get the skill to chop down trees like that?” “In the Sahara Forest,” replied the puny man. “You mean the Sahara Desert,” said the lumberjack. 3.12.18 – “In Christ alone, my hope is found…all other ground is sinking sand.” These two lyrics from old and new songs of the faith offer a wonderful thought that all we need now or in the future is Christ! He is the “fullness of the Godhead bodily,” and if we have Him we shall lack for nothing. "A blonde decides to try horseback riding, even though she has had no lessons or prior experience. She mounts the horse, unassisted, and the horse immediately springs into motion. It gallops along at a steady and rhythmic pace, but the blonde begins to slip from the saddle. In terror, she grabs for the horse's mane, but cannot seem to get a firm grip. She tries to throw her arms around the horse's neck, but she slides down the side of the horse anyway. The horse gallops along, seemingly impervious to its slipping rider. Finally, giving up her frail grip, the blonde attempts to leap away from the horse and throw herself to safety. Unfortunately, her foot has become entangled in the stirrup; she is now at the mercy of the horse's pounding hooves as her head is struck against the ground over and over. Trail Mix - 3.11.18

3.11.18 – “Friends, we will never be anything until we become nothing! Blessing begins when we bring our “nothingness” to God and come “Just as I am, without one plea…” Jesus said that “without me ye can do nothing,” but with Him “all things are possible.” We begin to really live at that moment when we feel our greatest need of Him, “What fellowship, what joy divine, leaning on the everlasting arms…” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is that you would “learn to lean” on Jesus more and more with each passing day.

John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. KJV
“A country preacher decided to skip services one Sunday and head to the hills to do some bear hunting. As he rounded the corner on a perilous twist in the trail, he and a bear collided, sending him and his rifle tumbling down the mountainside. Before he knew it, his rifle went one way and he went the other, landing on a rock and breaking both legs. That was the good news. The bad news was the ferocious bear charging at him from a distance, and he couldn't move. "Oh Lord," the preacher prayed, "I'm so sorry for skipping services today to come out here and hunt. Please forgive me and grant me just one wish.... please make a Christian out of that bear that's coming at me. Please, Lord!" That very instant, the bear skidded to a halt, fell to its knees, clasped its paws together and began to pray aloud right at the preacher's feet. "Dear Lord, bless this food I am about to receive... in Jesus' name... Amen." ChristiansUnite.com

Trail Mix - 3.10.18

3.10.18 – “Enoch walked with God and he was not, for God took him! Someone said that Enoch and God were walking and talking and it was getting late and God said, “that since we are closer to My house than yours, why don’t you go home with Me!” The key to understanding their relationship is that Enoch walked “with” God. How can two walk together except they be in agreement? Are you walking with God today?” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to walk the walk and talk the talk with God!

2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, KJV
“Some tourists in the Chicago Museum of Natural History are marveling at the dinosaur bones. One of them asks the guard, "Can you tell me how old the dinosaur bones are?" The guard replies, "They are 3 million, four years, and six months old." "That's an awfully exact number," says the tourist. "How do you know their age so precisely?" The guard answers, "Well, the dinosaur bones were three million years old when I started working here, and that was four and a half years ago." Christians Unite.com

Trail Mix - 3.9.18

3.9.18 – “We are to be child-like but not childish! Childish behavior abounds in our churches with folks who throw tantrums and are always in a tizzy about something. They are always threatening to quit if things don’t go their way. The church wants for disciples who are on meat instead of milk. What is the main item on your spiritual menu dear friend? The church needs wholesome, healthy, grown up believers!” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to have a grown-up diet with plenty of meat!

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: KJV
“An elderly woman and her little grandson, whose face was sprinkled with bright freckles, spent the day at the zoo. Lots of children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws. "You've got so many freckles, there's no place to paint!" a girl in the line said to the little fella. Embarrassed, the little boy dropped his head. His grandmother knelt down next to him. "I love your freckles. When I was a little girl I always wanted freckles," she said, while tracing her finger across the child's cheek. "Freckles are beautiful." The boy looked up, "Really?" "Of course," said the grandmother. "Why just name me one thing that's prettier than freckles." The little boy thought for a moment, peered intensely into his grandma's face, and softly whispered, "Wrinkles." ChristiansUnite.Com

Trail Mix - 3.8.18

3.8.18 – “At what point in life do we begin to bare the “much fruit,” that Jesus spoke about? It is when we come to the end of our strivings and live an “exchanged life” and not just a changed life! Jesus said that if we would be His disciple then we must deny self and crucify ourselves daily. “Much fruit” comes at that point when we empty ourselves and become totally dependent on Christ. Jesus taught self-execution not self- exaltation! Amen! Paul said that it was Christ living in him that was “the hope of glory.” Vance Havner
My prayer for you is that Christ would be “present” and “president” in you!

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. KJV
“A dog ran into a butcher shop and grabbed a roast off the counter. Fortunately, the butcher recognized the dog as belonging to a neighbor of his. The neighbor happened to be a lawyer. Incensed at the theft, the butcher called up his lawyer neighbor and said, "Hey, if your dog stole a roast from my butcher shop, would you be liable for the cost of the meat?" The lawyer replied, "Of course, how much was the roast?" "$7.98." said the butcher. A few days later the butcher received a check in the mail for $7.98. Attached to it was an invoice that read: Legal Consultation Service: $150” ChristiansUnite.com

Trail Mix - 3.7.18

3.7.18 – “What brought you to Christ? Was it a time of crisis in your life that led you to set your house in order? Would it not be better to come to Christ because we appreciate His goodness to us? We most often come in an hour of desperation but “It is the goodness of God that leadeth thee to repentance.” We could avert much pain if we would just come to Him in the sunshine instead of the shadows. I have seen circumstances where an individual came to Christ the first time they heard a gospel message but this is rare; most of the time we hear the gospel call many times before we respond.” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to seek God in the daylight instead of waiting until it is dark!

Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; KJV
“Three boys are in the schoolyard bragging about their fathers. The first boy says, "My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a poem, they give him $50." The second boy says, "That's nothing. My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a song, they give him $100." The third boy says, "I got you both beat. My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a sermon. And it takes eight people to collect all the money!" ChristiansUnite.com

Trail Mix - 3.6.18

3.6.18 – Vance Havner said, “God marks across some of our days, I’ll explain later,” and the old song says that, “We will understand it better by and by.” God does not always explain everything He does in the here and now but we will know in the hereafter! It may be a sun lit vision on a mountain top or a deep dark dim valley of despair for you friend but whatever it is, trust that He knows the way. Hold to “God’s unchanging hand” and all will be well. He never, ever fails and we can trust our destiny to Him! S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to have peace in the circumstances of your life whether it be in calm or calamity!

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. KJV
“A preacher, who shall we say was "humor impaired," attended a conference to help encourage and better equip pastors for their ministry. Among the speakers were many well known and dynamic speakers. One such boldly approached the pulpit and, gathering the entire crowd's attention, said, "The best years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman that wasn't my wife!" The crowd was shocked! He followed up by saying, "And that woman was my mother!" - The crowd burst into laughter and delivered the rest of his talk, which went over quite well.
The next week, the pastor decided he'd give this humor thing a try, and use that joke in his sermon. As he surely approached the pulpit that sunny Sunday, he tried to rehearse the joke in his head. It suddenly seemed a bit foggy to him. Getting to the microphone he said loudly, "The greatest years of my life were spent in the arms of another woman that was not my wife!" The congregation inhaled half the air in the room. After standing there for almost 10 seconds in the stunned silence, trying to recall the second half of the joke, the pastor finally blurted out, "...and for the life of me I can't remember who she was!" Trail Mix - 3.5.18

3.5.18 – “Have you ever had one of those days when nothing went right and you were unable at night to put together a sensible prayer no matter how hard you tried? You finally just gave up trying and said, “Lord, bless this mess,” and you went on to sleep. Take heart dear friend because “He knoweth our frame…” At times like these He makes up for our deficiencies in prayer and it is good to know that when we have done the best we can, He makes up the difference! The Holy Spirit “maketh intercession,” when we can’t frame the words and thoughts of our hearts and minds.” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to work like everything depends on you and pray like everything depends on God!

Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. KJV
“This minister just had all of his remaining teeth pulled and new dentures were being made. The first Sunday, he only preached 10 minutes. The second Sunday, he preached only 20 minutes. But, on the third Sunday, he preached 1 hour 25 minutes. When asked about this by some of the congregation, he responded this way. The first Sunday, my gums were so sore it hurt to talk. The second Sunday, my dentures were hurting a lot. The third Sunday, I accidentally grabbed my wife's dentures... and I couldn't stop talking!” ChristiansUnite.Com

Trail Mix - 3.4.18

3.4.18 – “The transposition of Christ and sinners is one of the greatest mysteries in the entire universe. How the perfect and pure Son of God could “become sin for us,” in our place and how we could be, “…made the righteousness of God,” in His place is beyond comprehension. Yet it stands as the capstone of the Gospel as God showed us just how gracious He could be. This mighty act leaves us in astonishment! “Where sin did abound, grace did much more abound…” Hallelujah, what a Savior!” Gleanings from Vance Havner
My prayer for you today is for this truth to permeate your heart and mind!

Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. KJV
“One Sunday morning, the pastor noticed little Alex was staring up at the large plaque that hung in the foyer of the church. The plaque was covered with names, and small American flags were mounted on either side of it. The seven-year-old had been staring at the plaque for some time, so the pastor walked up, stood beside him and said quietly, "Good morning, Alex." "Good morning, Pastor," replied the young man, still focused on the plaque. "Pastor McGhee, what is this?" Alex asked. "Well, son, it's a memorial to all the men and women who have died in the service." Soberly, they stood together, staring at the large plaque. Little Alex's voice was barely audible when he finally managed to ask, "Which one, the 9:00 or 10:30 service?” ChristiansUnite.com

Trail Mix - 3.3.18

3.3.18 – “When the saints read that “God is our refuge and strength,” they may have thought of the cities of refuge with their suburbs that provided protection for those who had slain a man without malice or forethought. All one had to do to find a safe haven was to make it to the outskirts of the city. Christ is our “refuge and strength” and if we come to Him we will find a safe and secure resting place. If you put your trust in Him He will never fail you.” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to find a “shelter in the time of storm” in our Jesus!

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. KJV
“The elderly pastor was searching his closet for his collar before church one Sunday morning. In the back of the closet, he found a small box containing 3 eggs and 100 $1 bills. He called his wife into the closet to ask her about the box and its contents. Embarrassed, she admitted having hidden the box there for their entire 30 years of marriage. Disappointed and hurt, the pastor asked her, “WHY?” The wife replied that she hadn’t wanted to hurt his feelings. He asked her how the box could have hurt his feelings. She said that every time during their marriage that he had delivered a poor sermon, she had placed an egg in the box. The pastor felt that 3 poor sermons in 30 years was certainly nothing to feel bad about, so he asked her what the $100 was for. She replied, “Each time I got a dozen eggs, I sold them to the neighbors’ for $1.” ChristiansUnite.com

Trail Mix - 3.2.18

3.2.18 – “What a scene dear friend awaits us in heaven when, all the redeemed are gathered together before the Lamb and we sing redemption’s song and the church militant finally becomes the church triumphant! The salvation of mankind is God’s greatest glory and like the hymn writer said, “What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see, and I look upon His face, the one who saved me by His grace…” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to “work till Jesus comes.”

Revelation 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; KJV
“Sitting on the side of the highway waiting to catch speeding drivers, a State Police Officer sees a car puttering along at 22 MPH. He thinks to himself, "This driver is just as dangerous as a speeder!" So he turns on his lights and pulls the driver over. Approaching the car, he notices that there are five old ladies -- two in the front seat and three in the back - eyes wide and white as ghosts. The driver, obviously confused, says to him, "Officer, I don't understand, I was doing exactly the speed limit! What seems to be the problem?" "Ma'am," the officer replies, "You weren't speeding, but you should know that driving slower than the speed limit can also be a danger to other drivers." "Slower than the speed limit?" she asked. No sir, I was doing the speed limit exactly... Twenty-Two miles an hour!" the old woman says a bit proudly. The State Police officer, trying to contain a chuckle explains to her that "22" was the route number, not the speed limit. A bit embarrassed, the woman grinned and thanked the officer for pointing out her error. "But before I let you go, Ma'am, I have to ask... Is everyone in this car ok? These women seem awfully shaken and they haven't muttered a single peep this whole time." the officer asks. "Oh, they'll be alright in a minute officer. We just got off Route 119." Trail Mix - 3.1.18

3.1.18 – “When Jesus returns the Bible declares that there will be a “shout!” This will be a shout of victory for the redeemed for sin, death and hell will have been vanquished. The triumphant Lamb of God will drag a beaten and bound Devil and blast him into the Lake of Fire, never to beset God’s children again. It will be a shout for joy as we finally reach home and are reunited with family, friends and all who are in the faith and know Christ as their Savior.” Gleanings from Vance Havner
My prayer for you today is for you to be able to rejoice in the return of Jesus!

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. KJV

 My Favorite Animal

“Our teacher asked what my favorite animal was, and I said, "Fried chicken." She said I wasn't funny, but she couldn't have been right, because everyone else laughed. My parents told me to always tell the truth. I did. Fried chicken is my favorite animal. I told my dad what happened, and he said my teacher was probably a member of PETA. He said they love animals very much. I do, too, especially chicken, pork and beef. Anyway, my teacher sent me to the principal's office. I told him what happened, and he laughed, too. Then he told me not to do it again. The next day in class my teacher asked me what my favorite live animal was. I told her it was chicken. She asked me why, so I told her it was because you could make them into fried chicken. She sent me back to the principal's office. He laughed, and told me not to do it again. I don't understand. My parents taught me to be honest, but my teacher doesn't like it when I am. Today, my teacher asked us to tell her what famous person we admire most. I told her, "Colonel Sanders." Guess where I am now...”
