January
27, 2019 – “I knew a man
that built a house with no widows. Windows let in the light and let out the
sight and without light men cannot live. John Bunyan knew the value of windows
for he spent most of his adult life in Bedford jail without a window, so he
built his own in “Palace Beautiful,” and wrote of an “upper chamber whose
window opened toward sunrising.” Vance
Havner No windows lead to stagnation. No windows lead to dryness of the
soul. No windows prevent the light of truth from penetrating into the heart and
mind. Now windows create spiritual atrophy. No windows produce doubt,
discouragement and depression. This is true of the soul and the church.” S. E.

My prayer for you today is for you to
allow the “light” to shine into the window of your soul.

Memory Verse Challenge - John 1:14
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt
among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father,) full of grace and truth. KJV
“The Indians
asked their Chief in fall, is the winter going to be cold or not. Not really
knowing an answer, the chief replies that the winter was going to be cold and
that the members of the village were to collect wood to be prepared. Being a
good leader, he then went to the next phone booth and called the National
Weather Service and asked, "Is this winter going to be cold?" The man
on the phone responded, "This winter was going to be quite cold indeed."
So the Chief went back to speed up his people to collect even more wood to be
prepared. A week later he called the National Weather Service again, "Is
it going to be a very cold winter?" "Yes", the man replied,
"it's going to be a very cold winter." So the Chief goes back to his
people and orders them to go and find every scrap of wood they can find. Two
weeks later he calls the National Weather Service again: "Are you
absolutely sure, that the winter is going to be very cold?"
"Absolutely" the man replies, "the Indians are collecting wood
like crazy!"
