Trail Mix - 3.16.19

March 16, 2019 – Gleanings from  Vance Havner - The prophet spoke of “broken cisterns” that would hold no water. As a child we remember those times when we stayed in a home where the water supply came from a cistern which caught rain water. The cistern required maintenance and repair from time to time to make sure that it did not leak. “Thirsty souls” need refreshment. Is your “cistern” in good repair so that when God sends the rain you’ll have water to share?” S. E. Trail

My prayer today is for you to share the living water with a thirsty soul.
2 Peter 1:19  We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
“Farmer Joe decided his injuries from the accident were serious enough to take the trucking company (responsible for the accident) to court. In court, the trucking company's fancy lawyer was questioning farmer Joe. "Didn't you say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine?," questioned the lawyer. Farmer Joe responded, "Well I'll tell you what happened. I had just loaded my favorite mule Bessie into the......." "I didn't ask for any details," the lawyer interrupted, "just answer the question. Did you not say, at the scene of the accident, 'I'm fine!'" Farmer Joe said, "Well I had just got Bessie into the trailer and I was driving down the road..." The lawyer interrupted again and said, "Judge, I am trying to establish the fact that, at the scene of the accident, this man told the Highway Patrolman on the scene that he was just fine. Now several weeks after the accident he is trying to sue my client. I believe he is a fraud. Please tell him to simply answer the question." By this time the Judge was fairly interested in Farmer Joe's answer and said to the lawyer, "I'd like to hear what he has to say about his favorite mule Bessie." Joe thanked the Judge and proceeded, "Well as I was saying, I had just loaded Bessie, my favorite mule, into the trailer and was driving her down the highway when this huge semi-truck and trailer ran the stop sign and smacked my truck right in the side. I was thrown into one ditch and Bessie was thrown into the other. I was hurting real bad and didn't want to move. However, I could hear ole Bessie moaning and groaning. I knew she was in terrible shape just by her groans. Shortly after the accident a Highway Patrolman came on the scene. He could hear Bessie moaning and groaning so he went over to her. After he looked at her he took out his gun and shot her between the eyes. Then the Patrolman came across the road with his gun in his hand and looked at me. He said, "Your mule was in such bad shape I had to shoot her. How are you feeling?" ChristiansUnite.Com

Trail Mix - 3.15.19

March 15, 2019 – “God does not normally meet with the crowd, He meets with a man! That was true of Moses, Jacob, Paul and John. The pages of church history have many examples of this truth. Even Jesus started his day alone with the Father. Vance Havner states that, “Eagles do not fly in droves.” They meet with God alone and then “…rise up on the wings of eagles.” Start your day with a quiet time with God and you’ll “fly” too! S. E. Trail

My prayer for you today is for you to have a “meeting with the Master” each morning, it will make you day!
Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. KJV
“There was a barber that thought that he should share his faith with his customers more than he had been doing lately. So the next morning when the sun came up and the barber got up out of bed he said, "Today I am going to witness to the first man that walks through my door." Soon after he opened his shop the first man came in and said, "I want a shave!" The barber said, "Sure, just sit in the seat and I'll be with you in a moment." The barber went in the back and prayed a quick desperate prayer saying, "God, the first customer came in and I'm going to witness to him. So give me the wisdom to know just the right thing to say to him. Amen." Then quickly the barber came out with his razor knife in one hand and a Bible in the other while saying "Good morning sir. I have a question for you... Are you ready to die?" ChristiansUnite.Com

Trail Mix - 3.14.19

March 14, 2019 – “We live in a world where there is a pre-occupation with self. Just look at all the words in our language that begin with the word self! Self-this and that are used in everyday communication, in the fields of psychology and sociology and in almost every area of life and are used to justify all kinds of behavior. Only when we understand that life is not about self but about God and His will do we really begin to live.” S. E. Trail

My prayer for you today is for you to realize that you are not “a self- made man,” and that you were created by God for a purpose.
Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? KJV
“A little boy was kneeling beside his bed with his mother and grandmother and softly saying his prayers, "Dear God, please bless Mummy and Daddy and all the family and please give me a good night's sleep." Suddenly he looked up and shouted, "And don't forget to give me a bicycle for my birthday!!" "There is no need to shout like that," said his mother. "God isn't deaf." "No," said the little boy, "but Grandma is." ChristiansUnite.Com

Trail Mix - 3.11.19

3.11.19 – “Enoch walked with God and he was not, for God took him! Someone said that Enoch and God were walking and talking and it was getting late and God said, “that since we are closer to My house than yours, why don’t you go home with Me!” The key to understanding their relationship is that Enoch walked “with” God. How can two walk together except they be in agreement? Are you walking with God today?” S. E. Trail

My prayer for you today is for you to walk the walk and talk the talk with God!

Weekly Memory Verse - 2 Corinthians 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, KJV
“Some tourists in the Chicago Museum of Natural History are marveling at the dinosaur bones. One of them asks the guard, "Can you tell me how old the dinosaur bones are?" The guard replies, "They are 3 million, four years, and six months old." "That's an awfully exact number," says the tourist. "How do you know their age so precisely?" The guard answers, "Well, the dinosaur bones were three million years old when I started working here, and that was four and a half years ago." Christians Unite.com

Trail Mix - 3.10.19

March 10, 2019 – “We are to be child-like but not childish! Childish behavior abounds in our churches with folks who throw tantrums and are always in a tizzy about something. They are always threatening to quit if things don’t go their way. The church wants for disciples who are on meat instead of milk. What is the main item on your spiritual menu dear friend? The church needs wholesome, healthy, grown up believers!” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to have a grown-up diet with plenty of meat!
Weekly Memory Verse Challenge - 1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: KJV
“An elderly woman and her little grandson, whose face was sprinkled with bright freckles, spent the day at the zoo. Lots of children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws. "You've got so many freckles, there's no place to paint!" a girl in the line said to the little fella. Embarrassed, the little boy dropped his head. His grandmother knelt down next to him. "I love your freckles. When I was a little girl I always wanted freckles," she said, while tracing her finger across the child's cheek. "Freckles are beautiful." The boy looked up, "Really?" "Of course," said the grandmother. "Why just name me one thing that's prettier than freckles." The little boy thought for a moment, peered intensely into his grandma's face, and softly whispered, "Wrinkles." ChristiansUnite.Com

Trail Mix - 3.9.19

March 9, 2019 Gleanings from Vance Havner - “At what point in life do we begin to bare the “much fruit,” that Jesus spoke about? It is when we come to the end of our strivings and live an “exchanged life” and not just a changed life! Jesus said that if we would be His disciple then we must deny self and crucify ourselves daily. “Much fruit” comes at that point when we empty ourselves and become totally dependent on Christ. Jesus taught self-execution not self- exaltation! Amen! Paul said that it was Christ living in him that was “the hope of glory.” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you is that Christ would be “present” and “president” in you!
Weekly Memory Verse Challenge - Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. KJV
“A dog ran into a butcher shop and grabbed a roast off the counter. Fortunately, the butcher recognized the dog as belonging to a neighbor of his. The neighbor happened to be a lawyer. Incensed at the theft, the butcher called up his lawyer neighbor and said, "Hey, if your dog stole a roast from my butcher shop, would you be liable for the cost of the meat?" The lawyer replied, "Of course, how much was the roast?" "$7.98." said the butcher. A few days later the butcher received a check in the mail for $7.98. Attached to it was an invoice that read: Legal Consultation Service: $150” ChristiansUnite.com

Trail Mix - 3.8.19

March 8, 2019 – “What brought you to Christ? Was it a time of crisis in your life that led you to set your house in order? Would it not be better to come to Christ because we appreciate His goodness to us? We most often come in an hour of desperation but “It is the goodness of God that leadeth thee to repentance.” We could avert much pain if we would just come to Him in the sunshine instead of the shadows. I have seen circumstances where an individual came to Christ the first time they heard a gospel message but this is rare; most of the time we hear the gospel call many times before we respond.” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to seek God in the daylight instead of waiting until it is dark!
KJV
“Three boys are in the schoolyard bragging about their fathers. The first boy says, "My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a poem, they give him $50." The second boy says, "That's nothing. My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a song, they give him $100." The third boy says, "I got you both beat. My Dad scribbles a few words on a piece of paper, he calls it a sermon. And it takes eight people to collect all the money!" ChristiansUnite.com
