December
16, 2019 – “God sent a
message to Jonah that all believers ought to hear. How can we compare the
importance of a gourd to the worth of a city full of lost souls or even one
soul for that matter? Nineveh was wicked and a great enemy to Israel but God
even loves the souls of Ninevites! What is our comfort under the shade of our
"gourds" compared to the lost souls in our communities? Gourds or the
Gospel; you can’t have it both ways! Lost souls must be the “main thing” for
all believers and we must keep it the “main thing!” S. E. Trail
My prayer for you today is for you to
share your faith with those who are lost so that they can know our sweet
Savior!
Matthew
9:35 And Jesus went about all the cities and
villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the
kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. KJV
“The minister was preoccupied with
thoughts of how he was going to ask the congregation to come up with more money
than they were expecting for repairs to the church building. Therefore, he was
annoyed to find that the regular organist was sick and a substitute had been brought
in at the last minute. The substitute wanted to know what to play. "Here's
a copy of the service," he said impatiently. "But, you'll have to think
of something to play after I make the announcement about the finances." During
the service, the minister paused and said, "Brothers and Sisters, we are
in great difficulty; the roof repairs cost twice as much as we expected and we
need $4,000 more. Any of you who can pledge $100 or more, please stand
up." At that moment, the substitute organist played "The Star
Spangled Banner." And that is how the substitute became the regular
organist!”
