5.8.18 – “If we put today’s disciples to the
same test that the Lord did I wonder what would be the result. In His day when He
preached hard things, “…they left Him and followed no more.” Jesus spoke of
self-denial, cross bearing and following. He doesn’t say that we will be poor
disciples if we don’t do these things; He says we cannot be disciples at all.
Sift today’s disciples with the three cannots and I wonder what the leftovers
would look like? We are called to full and total surrender to the Lord. Jesus
will be Lord of all or He will not be Lord at all!” S. E. Trail
My prayer today is for you to possess a
spirit of self-denial and selflessness.
Matthew 6:31 Therefore
take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or,
Wherewithal shall we be clothed? 32
(For after all these things do the
Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these
things. 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all
these things shall be added unto you. 34
Take therefore no thought for the morrow:
for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the
day is the evil thereof. KJV
